Sunshine Quilters of San Diego
Cuddle Quilt Program

Sunshine Quilters of San Diego donates hand made quilts to two very deserving organizations, the YWCA's Shelter for Battered Women & Children and the San Diego Center for Children. We have given nearly 700 quilts to date and these organizations still never have enough. Due to the obvious need for anonymity, we rarely hear from those whose lives we've helped brighten but the stories and letters of thanks we occasionally get back from these women and children is enough to break your heart! These quilts are but a few of the many quilts we donated last February.

We wish to thank P&B Textiles for donating over 80 yards of fabric to this worthy cause. We also wish to express our deepest thanks to S.C.R.U.B.S. for donating literally hundreds of pounds of their "scraps" to us and other local guilds to make these cuddle quilts for needy kids. S.C.R.U.B.S. is a local manufacturer of doctors/nurses hospital scrubs (1-800-231-5965). The only difference is that they don't use the traditional "green" fabric and their "scraps" are large, useable pieces of the latest Hoffman, P&B Textiles, and other fabric manufacturers.

At our February, 1998, meeting, we circled the room with donated cuddle quilts. The next 4 images take you around the room from the front, to the right, then to the back, and finally to the left of the room. Irwin Bear, President of P&B Textiles, was our guest speaker that evening. He even got into the festivities and helped by holding up a quilt...can you spot him?
